Politics Support and Counseling
Traditionally, therapists share nothing of themselves. Topics like religion and political views have been particularly taboo. So much so that ethical codes for therapists typically require these to be kept out of the therapy room. But that might not be the most appropriate approach for all clients.
However, a therapist’s politics and religious views can be part of what makes or breaks the safety of the therapy space, particularly for LGBTQ+, women, people from the global majority, and others from marginalized identities. For that reason, Earthsong Counseling openly shares these views so clients have the option to choose a therapist that fits their needs. We also offer a variety of politics related counseling services.
To be clear, it isn’t our hope to persuade any client to vote in any particular way. And we typically leave it up to you to bring it up. We simply want to offer the option of choosing a therapist who fits a particular political view.
Post Election Support Group
Earthsong Counseling will offer a post election support group for women and NBs who are upset, anxious, or otherwise unsettled by the outcome of the 2024 presidential election. This group will be limited to only 10 slots with preference given to current or former clients. Please note that this is not a therapeutic group and is not intended to be a substitute for therapy.
